Orchestra Omaha holds a Young Artists Competition during the fall/winter of each concert season. The competition is open to all wind, brass, string, percussion, piano and harp students who reside in the state of Nebraska, as well as identified counties in western Iowa and southeast South Dakota. String players age 9-13 compete in the Junior Division, while string players age 14-18 compete in the Senior Division. Wind, brass, percussion, piano and harp students ages 13-18 compete in the Orchestral Division. The winner in each division will be awarded a solo opportunity on an Orchestra Omaha concert, along with a cash prize.

The Information Packet for the 14th Annual Competition is projected to be released in September 2019. The applicaton period for 2019-20 Young Artists Competition is scheduled to open in November 2019.
